FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Are only women allowed to register as home cooks?

No. Tabkha Live was created to empower unpaid home cooks. In many cultures, this responsibility has traditionally fallen on women. You’ll notice we speak a lot about women home cooks on our platform. However, we understand that people of all genders may hold this role and responsibility. All unpaid home cooks, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, age*, or beliefs, may register to be a home cook on Tabkha Live.

Will I be able to access cooking sessions in my language?

Tabkha Live offers live cooking sessions in the language selected by the home cook. As our base of home cooks is rapidly growing, we hope to offer live cooking sessions in a wide variety of languages very soon. We are also in the process of enabling users to access recordings of cooking sessions with multiple language translation options available.

How many users participate in each cooking session?

Great question! The answer is, it depends. The number of users cooking in each live session is dependent on the cap set by the home cook who scheduled the session. It can range from one user to large groups of 10 or more.

Can home cooks share their cooking just for fun? Even if they don’t need to earn income?

Yes! The Tabkha Live experience is a social and cultural one. Like all social media, it connects people around the world. As a social enterprise, our main mission is to provide economic opportunity for unpaid home cooks. For this reason the platform will automatically credit the home cook’s account at the end of each session hosted. So, if you want to share your cooking with others for fun, you’ll have the option to donate any income you earn back to the platform. These donations will help us keep Tabkha Live running and growing.
